I work with wood like a painter works with oils and a sculptor works with stone.

When you first see my art, you may think the lines and shapes are painted on the wood. In fact, the colors, shapes and lines are of the wood itself. Every color, shape and line is a separate piece of wood. I don't use stains or dyes. It's difficult to see the full effect of my art without seeing it in person.

From a distance, lines, shapes, colors, deep contours and shadows are evident. The piece appears two dimensional, like a a painting, but as you move from side to side, you notice the lines and shapes flow over the contours, increasing the movement in the composition.
If a light source moves, the shadows in the piece move. At night, if lights are set at a low angle across the surface, the shaddows become stronger. The changing features produce drama in my art.
As you approach, shallow contours appear like swells on a lake.
You can, and should touch the piece to feel the smooth undulating surface of the wood because the surface is finished like fine furniture making it durable and easy to clean.
My art is unlike anything you've seen.
